The challenge

Produlab Pharma develops, registers and produces veterinary medicines for renowned pharmaceutical companies. They produce penicillin-containing medicines from their factory based in Raamdonksveer, The Netherlands. To further expand their production capacity, a new, modern, penicillin-free facility has been built. The new production hall has a capacity of 12,000m2, of which 3,000m2 consists of GMP cleanrooms.

Planning was a crucial factor in the project from the start. For Kropman Contamination Control, the challenge was in appropriate engineering, tight construction planning and correct testing and commissioning.

The solution

Based on a standard design, a detailed design has been developed. The knowledge in the field of contamination control and multidisciplinary projects has given Kropman the opportunity to be involved in the project throughout the entire construction phase. This makes the project a twofold: expanding production and separating the penicillin-containing and penicillin-free production facilities.

“The collaboration between Produlab Pharma and Kropman went smoothly. Because Produlab  only had one point of contact, we knew where to find each other and we were able to communicate quickly,” says Daan van der Hagen, project manager for clean utilities.

“Kropman carried out the execution and commissioning, including the accompanying documentation, of the project expeditiously and adequately. Meeting the schedule was crucial for us. Professionally, this was heard and thanks to a joint effort Produlab was able to successfully prepare the first products at the desired moment.

Produlab appreciates the fact that Kropman has realized a state of the art paperless pharma plant in an excellent collaboration with our qualification and automation partner.”

The impact

A tight schedule ensured that the production hall was completed three months earlier than the original schedule. This allowed the first products to be successfully reported as ready at the desired time.

Kropman currently carries out regular maintenance on the installed installations.
